Big Brothers

Big Sisters

Mentoring Program

This program promotes life skills, self-esteem, trust, and social appropriateness. We strive to make a positive and lasting impact in communities, and in the lives of young children and youth.

simply4smarts Big Brothers Big Sisters program focuses on creative one-on-one mentoring by developing relationships with children by playing games together, reading stories, Taking a walk in the park, helping your Little with homework, giving advice and guidance around any issues the child might have, doing arts & crafts projects, riding bikes, visits to museums, simply hanging out, or whatever they decide together.  Mentors can play a key role in children’s development and behavior. Mentors are selected from our Islamic community and act as role models, guides, and friends to our younger children. This program aims to provide children with the opportunity to connect with older youth who have already experienced what children may be going through and encourage them to maintain their identities as Muslim Americans. Relationships between mentor and child are one-to-one, they meet one to three hours per week, on a weekly basis, over the course of a year or longer.

Mentoring is ...

  • Sincere advice

  • Guidance and support

  • Emphatic listening

  • Knowledge sharing

  • And more

Some Bigs meet their Littles on the weekends either online or in-person. Others get together with their Littles on weekday evenings. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them.

A Little Time Together =
A Big Impact.

ROLE MODELS MAKE AN IMPACT

Studies show that children who have role models are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs.

As a parent or guardian, you recognize the potential of your child better than anyone else. By giving your child the opportunity to be part of simply4smarts Big Brothers Big Sisters program, you’re starting them down a path to an even brighter, more promising future.
